Embrace the Sock: Men’s Sock Trends

After watching all those sockless models walk the runways in anticipation of Spring 2013, it’s kind of comforting to know we’re headed into prime sock season. It’s time to protect our previously bare ankles. And while we know convention states that socks are meant to match the color of your pants, at WRG we tend towards a more creative sock mantra.

We say embrace the sock, and get wild with it. To hell with wearing yourself on your sleeve, why not flash “you” on your feet and do it boldly? Remember when we told you it was time to buy a pair of Monkstraps (or double monks as they’ve recently been dubbed)? Well, dress shoes are the ultimate chance to spice up your sock game.

Azteck, Striped, Polka dots, brights, patterns, these days socks are being made in a serious range of styles. Embrace creativity, mix patterns, and feel free to experiment with dressing up casual looks or spicing up your sober grey/black/navy suits. It’s time to browse the sock scene and try accompanying them with your rolled up cuffs and a pair of brand new double monks. This trend is a safe way to add oomph to your outfit without having to worry about going overboard.

We’re not going to give you any rules to follow. Basically, just know that when it comes to sock style some things are meant to be daring. That being said, DON’T EVER WEAR WHITE SOCKS unless you’re heading into the gym to pump some serious iron.

And… okay, maybe one more suggestion: please don’t go out there buying holiday socks. JUST. PLEASE. DON’T.
