Holiday Cheer

Let’s admit it, something about Christmas songs makes us feel warm and fuzzy inside.  So feeling very festive in full of all that holiday cheer and whatnot, I compiled a list of our favorite Christmas songs that I either find to be classic or pretty awesome. I can’t promise the rest of my WRG? crew will agree with my choices here but Music Monday is my baby so here we go.
WARNING THIS IS OUR CHEESIEST MUSIC POST TO DATE AND THE ONLY ONE WE WILL EVER DO.

1. Kanye West – Christmas In Harlem (CyHi Da Prince & Tenya Taylor)
Kanye made a Christmas song and no surprisingly, it’s good. Missing Christmas in Harlem….

2. Wham! – Last Christmas
A song about Christmas heartbreak that has an awesomely cheesy so very 80′s video to go along with it.

3. Trans-Siberia Orchestra- Christmas Eve in Saravejo (or Carol of The Bells)
If you’re unfamiliar with these guys, familiarize yourself. They’ve created quite a name for themselves redoing classical Christmas tunes and adding a heavy metal electric guitar sound.  I chose this YouTube vid of it because well, I want this to be my house.

4. Johnny Cash – Silent Night
One of the only country artists I would ever think to put on our site is this guy ( I love him).  Back in the day, Mr. Cash would host Christmas shows with his family.  Here is a clip of him singing with the 6 daughters that he had between him and June Carter Cash.

5. Alvin and The Chipmunks – The Christmas Song
When I listen to this, I’m five again.

6. Paul McCartney – Wonderful Christmas Time
Gotta love computer graphics circa 1979.

7. John Lennon- Merry Christmas (War Is Over)
Leave it to Mr. Lennon to make a great Christmas song that is also anti-war.  Timeless.

8. Rudolf The Red- Nosed Reindeer – Silver and Gold
THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIE narrated by one of the most iconic voices of Christmas songs, Burl Ives.   Shows a timeless story… we all love our bling.

9. The Jackson 5- I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus
Afros, an iconic group of brothers and a song about a kid seeing their mom cheating on their pops.

10. Eartha Kitt- Santa Baby
Many ladies have done versions of this songs, but nothing is like Miss Kitt’s. MEOW! =^..^=

*BONUS* Mariah Carey – All I Want For Christmas Is You
A favorite of our ‘The Confessional’ author. I had to put this for him.

*BONUS* NSYNC- Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays
Yes, I went there with this. The video starts with Gary Coleman and switches between the “heartthrobs” in a sled in front of a greens creen to homeless people covered in dirt to a party around a tree with girls in miniskirts. Oh the days of boybands… I dedicate this to you Flimsey Goods .  Why you ask? Why not.
