NYC Week: Coolhaus Ice Cream Truck
CoolHaus ice cream sandwiches are a delicacy we happen to stumble upon randomly while browsing the web. Originally based in LA, we couldn’t have been more excited when they decided to open an east coast venue (in June, 2011).
By nature, they uphold a dedication to quality and sustainability. They’ve managed to take it to a whole new level by not only using fresh, local and organically produced ingredients but with their finishing touch, an edible wrapper.
Whether you’re a sweet or savory person, Coolhaus can (and will) cater to your palate. With flavors such as Brown Butter with Candied Bacon, Sea Salt Caramel, Wasabi, Baked Apple ice creams and 13 different types of cookies the possibilities are pretty much endless.
Currently, Coolhaus has 2 trucks in NYC and they can be found by following their twitter account. The trucks move to different locations everyday and sometimes throughout the day.
We were lucky enough to have one of their infamous ice cream sandwich architects, Laurie, host us aboard their New York city trucks. While swiftly handling customers, tweets and scooping massive dollops of ice cream onto freshly baked cookies, Laurie so kindly put together a couple of sammies for us to taste test.
We must confess, our favorite was a classic double chocolate fudge cookie with their fragrant Tahitian Vanilla Bean ice cream. The simple creaminess of the vanilla was complimented by a childhood favorite combo, chocolate and vanilla.
It was so good, we ate it all… even the wrapper.
Check out our trip aboard the Coolhaus truck.
