Parisian based DJ crew Club Cheval have made quite the name for themselves both at home and abroad. Each of the crew’s four members, Canblaster, Myd, Panteros666 and Sam Tiba, bring something distinct to the table, which is no doubt a testament to why things work so well both when the boys play together and when they venture out alone.
Since coming off their tour of Europe and the U.S (with one brief stop over in Toronto which we’ll turn a blind Montreal eye to…) a few months ago, they’ve shown no signs of loosing steam. Be it working in the studio on their own music, producing other artists or playing to a crowd, there’s no doubt these boys are in their element. In anticipation of the imminent (and anticipated) first Club Cheval EP coming out next month, each Club Chevalian has geared up to drop a mixtape showing off their specialty.
First up, Myd with Vocal Drafts Vol.1. Trained in sound engineering from one of the best film schools in France, he is the crew’s vocal specialist, and resident cat afficianado (the fluffball on his shoulder, aka Cosmos, makes a few cameos on the mixtape) Never short on enthusiasm or energy, Myd told us he wanted Vocal Drafts to feel like a published notebook of sorts, filled with littes tests, unfinished attempts and things he’s always wanted to try.
“I think it’s really important that people get an idea of how I work, and get a chance to discover some of my more raw and unfinished work.”
In case that wasn’t enough for you, Myd also teamed up with crewmate Canblaster on the mixtape’s inaugural and wonderfully low-fi music video. Check out the clip for Everybody Got to Learn Sometimes below.
